    Itinerary

    Sunday – Warwickshire

We leave from our local departure points and head south to the county of Warwickshire and our hotel for the night. Stratford Manor Hotel.

    Monday- Torquay

After breakfast, we continue south through Somerset and the West Country before reaching Devon, The English Riviera and our hotel for five nights. The Livermead Cliff Hotel.

    Tuesday-Friday – Torquay

Our base is Torquay, the heart of the English Riviera and birthplace of ‘The Queen of Crime’, Agatha Christie. Our thriving seaside resort boasts iconic palm trees, a busy harbour, an international marina, a sandy beach and a wonderful array of continental style cafes and restaurants. We enjoy a day’s touring by train, foot passenger ferry and a circular river cruise on the Dart. We board a steam train from Paignton to Kingswear, enjoying breathtaking views of the coastline and later join the river cruise, passing Greenway House, home of Agatha Christie. A visit will be made to Buckfast Abbey, part of a Benedictine Monastery and perched in the shadow of Dartmoor. The abbey is surrounded by a beautiful, wooded valley and the River Dart. The tranquil gardens, including a lavender garden provide the perfect place for a stroll. We visit Brixham, a bustling coastal village where legends of smugglers and pirates abound and return from there on the ‘Western Lady Ferry’, admiring the panoramic views of the English Riviera as we sail to Torquay. We tour the area by coach, visiting Topsham, once a thriving port and shipbuilding centre and now a quaint historic area with a collection of distinct buildings including elegant 17th century Dutch style Merchant houses. We visit Exemouth, a lively town with a diverse selection of shops and long sandy beaches, and Sidmouth, a lovely seaside town, beneath majestic red cliffs and gateway to the Jurassic Coast.

    Saturday – Stratford-upon-Avon

We drive north to historic Stratford upon Avon, where we spend the afternoon exploring Shakespeare’s birthplace from the comfort of our centrally located hotel. Double Tree by Hilton.

    Sunday- Scotland

We return to Scotland after an enjoyable summer coach holiday.
