Our programme introduces us to Lincolnshire, with its stunning countryside, hidden valleys and historic market towns. A visit will be made by coach to Barnsdale Gardens, Britain’s largest collection of individually designed gardens. The inspiring range of garden styles and planting schemes have been referred to as ‘a theme park for gardeners’. We include a boat trip on Rutland Water, one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe and set over three thousand acres of beautiful countryside. Enjoy the scenery from the water, amidst the sailors, anglers and waterbirds. A guided tour of the world-class facility at The International Bomber Command Centre features in our tour. A moving visit, where we learn about the sacrifices made to ensure we have the freedom we enjoy today. We visit Lincoln, a city rich in history, combined with independent boutique shopping and known for its medieval cathedral and enjoy a self-guided tour of Burghley House. Built by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, Burghley is one of the largest and grandest surviving houses of the sixteenth century and a magnificent example of the great Elizabethan ‘prodigy’ houses. We relax in the comfort of our hotel, set in the rolling countryside surrounding Grantham in the heart of England.
We return to Scotland after a wonderful coach holiday.
