    Thainstone House Hotel

Our former 18th century grand family mansion and gardens has been transformed into a four-star Country House Hotel; Thainstone House.  Period details blend with modern touches and we celebrate the arrival of the New Year in this charming venue.  Set in 44 acres of lush meadowlands, our hotel offers elegant furnishings, an indoor swimming pool with luxury spa facilities and, above all, the best in hospitality.  Perfect for a New Year’s holiday.

    Monday – Inverurie

We leave from our local departure points and head north to the ever-splendid scenery of the Cairngorm National Park. Our route takes us via Braemar, known around the world for the annual Braemar Gathering and Highland Games. Queen Victoria fell in love with the Balmoral Estate and Royal Deeside, and we follow the Victorian Heritage Trail to attractive Banchory. A short drive takes us to Thainstone House, south of Inverurie and our base for three nights. (Please note the route north is weather dependent, and in case of inclement weather, travel will be via the A90).

We head north on Tuesday morning to Huntly, situated on the edge of the Speyside Whisky Trail and Lossiemouth, ‘The Jewel of the Moray Firth’. Lossiemouth is blessed with two sandy beaches and we soak up the town’s tranquil atmosphere. We follow the course of the Moray Firth, best known for its resident population of Bottlenose Dolphins and drive through the picture-perfect fishing villages of Cullen and Portsoy before returning to our hotel for the New Year Festivities. We are greeted with canapes prior to a Gala Dinner, and a live ceilidh band will play throughout the evening. A piper will herald in the New Year at ‘The Bells’ and steak pie and hot toddies will be on hand post celebrations.
A leisurely morning and stroll around the grounds of Thainstone Hotel will be on the cards for New Year’s Day!

    Thursday – Home

We return home after a happy and memorable New Year at Thainstone House Hotel.
