The beautiful, Victorian Spa town of Harrogate lies in the heart of Yorkshire. This thriving town invites you to enjoy its various independent shops and savour its many high-quality eateries. It is surrounded by stunning countryside and many places of historical interest. We include a visit to Helmsley and the historic and tranquil walled garden. Built in 1759, the garden sits beneath the imposing ruins of Helmsley Castle and we enjoy a guided tour of the gardens, ablaze with colour. We finish our tour with coffee and scones before continuing to Thirsk and the ‘World of James Herriot’. We enjoy a nostalgic visit to the home and surgery where the most famous vet in the world wrote his books about his experiences as a young vet. We visit one of the premier stately homes of England, Castle Howard. This opulent country house is situated within idyllic sweeping parkland dotted with temples and lakes and was the setting for the TV production of Brideshead Revisited. A visit will be made to RHS Garden Harlow Carr, where we can stroll along the lush streamside walk, admire the lavish herbaceous borders and relax in the sweet, scented garden. We allow ample time to explore Harrogate with its Royal Pump Room Museum, Turkish Baths and of course, the delights of Betty’s Tea Rooms!
We return home after a memorable Yorkshire coach holiday.
