Thursday - Sunday - Peckfield
We tour the stunning North York Moors and skirt the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales in our relaxing short holiday.
We travel to Skipton, a shopper's delight with an award winning High Street and Market, which is often voted the best market in Yorkshire. We incorporate this visit with a canal trip on the Leeds & Liverpool canal, originally used for transporting coal, stone and cloth and nowadays, a brilliant way of exploring the area, reliving the past and relaxing as the world passes by.
A visit will be made to elegant Harrogate, a Victorian Spa town, where we have the opportunity to visit the famous Pump Room or Betty's Tea Room, before a short drive takes us to The RHS Garden Harlow Carr, a delight in every season. One of Yorkshire's most relaxing and innovative gardens at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, the gardens are a showcase of horticultural excellence.
We travel to spectacular Castle Howard, dating back over 300 years and set in 1,000 acres of breathtaking parkland. We take time to admire the interiors, including frescoes, paintings and beautiful furniture. The gardens are also well worth exploring, especially the Ornamental Vegetable Garden, which is housed in the 18th century walled garden. We tour the picturesque villages of North Yorkshire, visiting picturesque Helmsley and Thirsk, a traditional Yorkshire Market town.
We travel via Pickering to Goathland, known to many as the setting for Heartbeat's Aidensfield and continue over The North York Moors to Whitby. Whitby is a delightful seaside resort, famous for the abbey, which was Bram Stoker's inspiration for Dracula, The Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Jet jewellery and of course fish and chips!!
