The Isle of Wight

3rd August 2018

Friday - Wellesbourne

We leave from our local departure points and drive south to Wellesbourne in Warwickshire and our overnight hotel.  Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel and Spa.

Saturday - Sandown

This morning we travel to Portsmouth, where we board the Isle of Wight ferry.  On arrival in Fishbourne, a short drive takes us to Sandown and our hotel for five nights.  Trouville Hotel.

Sunday - Wednesday

The Isle of Wight has attracted visitors since the reign of Queen Victoria and boasts the best of southern England's landscape features, condensed into an area of 147 square miles.  Miles of wild and beautiful coastlines, a green heartland of tranquillity and an enchanting rural community almost untouched by modern urban pressures make the Isle of Wight an ideal holiday destination.  A visit will be made to Osborne House, one of Queen Victoria's favourite retreats, where highlights include the lavishly furnished State Rooms and glorious grounds and gardens.  We step back in time to a bygone era and travel on the award winning Isle of Wight Steam Railway and we tour the Island, visiting the quintessentially English villages of Godshill and Brightstone.  We travel to Alum Bay, famous for its multi-coloured sand cliffs and breathtaking views of The Needles and Lighthouse and Ventnor, where, basking in the microclimate of the Undercliff, we visit one of the great gardens of Britain, the Ventnor Botanic Garden.  We enjoy the twin resorts of Sandown and Shanklin, superbly situated beside the sparkling waters of Sandown Bay and we relax and enjoy the picturesque villages and sandy beaches on the island.

Thursday - Worcester

We leave the Isle of Wight and return to mainland Britain and travel north to Worcester for the night.  The Whitehouse Hotel.

Friday - Scotland

We return to Scotland after an enjoyable holiday.

Our three star hotel offers stunning views of Sandown Bay and is a short walk from Sandown Pier.  Comfortable bedrooms have flat screen TV, tea/coffee facilities and many rooms boast a view over the Bay. We enjoy tempting evening meals with menu choice, full English breakfasts and a warm welcome.
